Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache Hard Drive Review
This is my review of the Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache hard drive.

Well after examining hybrid drives and hard drives and SSDs, and then finally deciding on an SSD for the operating system and a hard drive for most of my data, I had to pick a hard drive. This was a hard choice, after looking through countless Amazon reviews of the various hard drives available, there was no obvious choide. Hard drives were easy too noisy, or they died in under 12 months.
I'm looking for something quiet, is fairly cheap, would last a while, and have about 1TB of storage.

Eventually I decided on the Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache. The Western Digital website say it has green/envrionmentally friendly credentials/power usage and is also quiet. My last PC has a Western Digitial drive, and that's been very reliable so far.

Upon installation onto the motherboard, the hard drive worked straight away. I didn't actually connect it up immediately during the PC build. Initially I just attached the SSD, until I'd finished installing Windows, to ensure all of Windows went onto the SSD, as suggested in a blog I'd seen.
The drive seems fairly quiet, I don't actually hear it, only one of the fans in the PC makes the only noice (probably CPU fan but not sure yet). I have heard it making small gentle noices when I've been up close with the PC case.
