Music to Code to

One of the things about coding I love the most is I get to listen to music whilst I'm coding most of the time. It allows me to block out external distractions, from noises, people talking, etc and concentrate at the task at hand. There are some occasions when it's easier to solve a hard problem without the music, but when you're concentrating on a hard problem, it can be even worse if there are other distractions in the office, and music enables you to focus better. It won't stop the visual distractions such as someone walking close to you, only working in the office when it's completely empty allows that, so popping in on a Saturday or Sunday when no-one else is there can be extra productive and calm.

Music can change your mood, your emotions, your thoughts. Whilst I'll listen to all sorts from very ambient movie soundtracks, classical, jazz, all the way through to 200 bpm techno, my favourite is high energy uplifting music, which usually means trance. Something which makes you happy. With energetic music I also get more productive, and my music and mood combined will determine if I'm coding faster than the speed of light or not.

Trance

So here are some of my own DJ mixes, of mainly uplifting trance music which I listen to when I code, I hope you enjoy the music and it helps you code!.
